1990 was an historic year, with political events putting the seal of authenticity on the revolutions of 1989 - not simply in Europe but around the world.
Democratic principles worldwide are under attack and while threats to democracy are not new, contemporary challenges – including the global health emergency – have put parliamentarians themselves on the frontlines.
The spirit of collective action that characterizes PGA is more important today than ever. PGA’s international network stands in solidarity with champions of democracy and defenders of human rights and peace worldwide.
The year 2020 was defined by tremendous obstacles, and many achievements! The current global health crisis requires a multilateral response.
This was the first year of PGA’s 3-year strategic plan under the theme of “Mobilizing Legislators as Champions for Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace” and resulted in significant progress in the creation of a more equitable, safe, and democratic world.

Throughout 2015, Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) has continued to develop and strengthen its preexisting campaigns, as well as introduce new initiatives that further the vision of PGA “To contribute to the creation of a rules-based international order for a more equitable, safe and democratic world.”
