Our new strategic direction places PGA’s human rights-based approach, action-oriented advocacy, and empowerment of individual parliamentarians at the center of our work.
Parliamentarians for Global Action est un réseau mondial multipartite de législateurs de toutes les régions du monde, qui défendent les principes sociaux et environnementaux les plus fondamentaux : les droits de l'Homme, la démocratie et l'État de droit ; la paix et la sécurité humaine ; l'égalité des sexes et l'inclusion ; la protection de l'environnement ; et la justice sous toutes ses formes.

L’Action mondiale des parlementaires (PGA) a été créée en 1978 à Washington D.C. par un groupe de parlementaires du monde entier, afin de régler de manière collective, coordonnée et cohérente certains problèmes globaux qui ne peuvent être résolus par un seul gouvernement ou parlement.

1990 was an historic year, with political events putting the seal of authenticity on the revolutions of 1989 - not simply in Europe but around the world.
2023 was a difficult year for the causes of democracy, human rights, peace, justice and equality.
Democratic principles worldwide are under attack and while threats to democracy are not new, contemporary challenges – including the global health emergency – have put parliamentarians themselves on the frontlines.
The spirit of collective action that characterizes PGA is more important today than ever. PGA’s international network stands in solidarity with champions of democracy and defenders of human rights and peace worldwide.
The year 2020 was defined by tremendous obstacles, and many achievements! The current global health crisis requires a multilateral response.
This was the first year of PGA’s 3-year strategic plan under the theme of “Mobilizing Legislators as Champions for Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace” and resulted in significant progress in the creation of a more equitable, safe, and democratic world.

Throughout 2015, Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) has continued to develop and strengthen its preexisting campaigns, as well as introduce new initiatives that further the vision of PGA “To contribute to the creation of a rules-based international order for a more equitable, safe and democratic world.”
1995 provided a host of round-number anniversaries. Foremost was the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. Hopes were high that the 50th would bring major reform of the UN System. Unfortunately, hopes that rely on numbers are rarely realized.
