At the initiative of the PGA National Group, 30 Members of Parliament in New Zealand sign the Control Arms Global Parliamentary Declaration on the ATT

30 members of Parliament in New Zealand have signed the Control Arms Global Parliamentary Declaration on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and it is anticipated that more MPs in New Zealand will follow suit in January 2012.

The Control Arms Global Parliamentary Declaration on the ATT was launched at PGA's 33rd Annual Forum on 'Armed Violence and Development' in Colombo, Sri Lanka in October, 2011.

PGA President-Elect Ross Robertson MP assisted in coordinating these efforts and fellow PGA Members Kennedy Graham MP and Jackie Blue MP are currently also coordinating on the same matter within their own respective political parties.

PGA is a Member of the Steering Board of Control Arms and played a substantial role in drafting this Declaration.

PGA is most appreciative of these important efforts undertaken by Members of the PGA National Group in New Zealand and expresses the sincere hope that PGA National Groups in many other countries worldwide will now shortly follow with similar action.
