El Consejo de la Unión Europea adopta un nuevo mecanismo para abordar las graves violaciones de derechos humanos

El 7 de diciembre de 2020, el Concejo de la Unión Europea adoptó dos instrumentos de carácter vinculante, el Reglamento del Consejo de la UE 2020/1998 y la Decisión (PESC) 2020/1999 del Consejo, mediante los cuales, a través de la imposición de restricciones económicas severas y de desplazamiento, sanciona a personas físicas, jurídicas, entidades y otros organismos responsables de cometer graves violaciones de los derechos humanos.
