PGA Executive Committee Member Hon. M. Kulasegaran MP has called on the Government of Malaysia to proceed to ratification of the Arms Trade Treaty, three years after it became the first country in South East Asia to sign the ATT. Hon. M. Kulasegaran is a longstanding advocate for Malaysia joining the Arms Trade Treaty. In 2012, Hon. Kulasegaran persuaded over 70 MP colleagues in the Parliament of Asia to sign the Global Parliamentary Declaration on the Arms Trade Treaty. In addition, Hon. Kulasegaran has raised the matter of the desirability of Malaysia ratifying the ATT on previous occasions in the national media. In the Parliament of Malaysia, Hon. Kulasegaran has raised the matter directly in Parliament on a frequent basis between 2012-2016 (pages 136-138) and/with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia.
