PGA’s vision is to contribute to the creation of a Rules-Based International Order for a more equitable, safe, sustainable and democratic world.

Parliamentary Campaign to Strengthen the Effectiveness of the UN System

The PCSW-UN is PGA’s targeted effort to strengthen the UN System through the involvement of national legislators who give input on the main points of the UN Agenda, and ensure that treaties, resolutions, and action points discussed at the UN are being effectively implemented in their respective countries.

The purpose of the campaign is to bring the often-abstract work of the UN closer to civil society through the involvement of democratically elected legislators from both opposition and government parties.

Within this framework, PGA is an active supporter of the 1 for 7 Billion Campaign , the ACT Group on Accountability, Coherence and Transparency of the UN Security Council, and the Code of Conduct Regarding Security Council Action Against Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity or War Crimes .

Another important aspect of PGA’s work towards Strengthening the Working Methods of the UN is the PGA UN Committee, which comprises senior UN ambassadors, high-level UN officials, and some leading NGO representatives who meet to advise PGA on its work involving the United Nations, as well as to offer advice and share best practices on how Parliamentarians can strengthen the working methods of the UN, its General Assembly, and Security Council.
