Suriname Moves Closer to Ratification of Arms Trade Treaty

Suriname | ATT Status Update - 31 August, 2018

The Chair of PGA's National Group in Suriname, Hon. Patrick Kensenhuis, MP, has informed PGA that the signed Presidential Decree authorizing ratification of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) by Suriname was published in the Official Government Gazette on 29th July 2018.  The National Assembly of Suriname had adopted/approved the Arms Trade Treaty on 24 May 2018. 

Since 2011, PGA Members in Suriname, past and present, have played a central role in promoting support for adoption of the ATT and subsequently successfully also promoting signature of the ATT by Suriname in June 2013.
