PGA congratulates the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe on the occasion of its ratification of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) on 28th July 2020.

São Tomé and Príncipe now becomes the 108th State Party to the ATT.  The official UN depository documentation can be found here.

PGA also extends its sincere appreciation to PGA Executive Committee Member, Dep. Levy Nazaré, Vice-President of the National Assembly of São Tomé and Príncipe, for his consistent and decisive parliamentary outreach and advocacy in support of this objective over the past 3 years.

PGA has been active in its efforts to promote the ratification of the ATT by Lusophone States, and support respective states in this connection. Notably, PGA's 2016 Workshop in the National Assembly of Cabo Verde, Praia, promoting ratification and implementation of the ATT, brought together over 40 prominent Legislators and Government officials from Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe.

In addition, PGA's 2018 Workshop in the National Assembly of Guinea-Bissau, brought together Parliamentarians and Government Officials from eight Lusophone states around the world, in order to advocate for and support improved compliance with the UN Program of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons.
