Together with the Parliament of Argentina, PGA will host a Regional Parliamentary Workshop to promote Ratification and Implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty in Buenos Aires in April 2014.

Convening Legislators from 14 countries in the Latin America region, government officials, UN experts and representatives from civil society and academia, the purpose of this Regional Parliamentary Workshop will be to:

  1. Discuss and Clarify the Key Elements of the ATT – its parameters and scope, including addressing any misperceptions regarding the ATT through presentations from experts
  2. Disseminate and discuss PGA’s Parliamentary Handbook on Ratification and Implementation of the ATT
  3. Disseminate and discuss PGA’s Tool Kit on Ratification and Implementation of the ATT
  4. Generate further support for the ATT so as to hasten the process of signature, ratification and implementation of the ATT across the Latin America region
  5. Review of and interactive dialogue surrounding possible Model Legislation to facilitate ATT ratification and implementation in Latin America
  6. Elaboration of a Plan of Action including a concrete Road Map of further steps to be taken by the Participating Legislators to promote ratification and implementation of the ATT in their respective countries.
