Introducing PGA’s One-on-One Interview Series

PGA has launched a One-on-One Interview Series to learn and share the stories of PGA member-parliamentarians, including their reasons for choosing a political career and, in the process, becoming human rights defenders, their passions and interests, their work with PGA, and the importance of addressing gender issues in their own country.

Be sure to check out these interviews on our YouTube channel!

The first episode, featuring Margareta Cederfelt, PGA’s President and member of Parliament from Sweden, gives us insight into the life of a female politician and strong champion of human rights. Having been trained as a nurse, Ms. Cederfelt recalls her motivation to run for office as well as the challenges she faced as a young mother in the early years of her political career. At the end of the episode, she also offers valuable advice for young people who are interested in joining politics and making a difference by working from within the political system.

Hon. Millie Odhiambo of Kenya is our guest for the second episode. In our conversation, she chronicles how she got involved in politics and the obstacles she had to overcome as a female politician who advocates so vocally for what she believes in. More importantly, Hon. Odhiambo highlights, in detail, the plight of women and girls amid the COVID-19 pandemic and calls on her fellow parliamentarians to protect vulnerable communities and ensure no one is left behind.
