EUROLAT: Unanimous vote adopting a Resolution Addressing The Illicit Trade in SALW

PGA Executive Committee Member and Chair of Foreign Relations Committee of Legislative Assembly of El Salvador, Dip. Karina Sosa and PGA Member, Dip. Pablo  González (Uruguay), join unanimous vote of Committee on Political Affairs, Security and Human Rights of EUROLAT adopting a Resolution Addressing The Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons

Dip. Karina Sosa noted that the document "urges continued work and commitment to eradicate the use of small arms and light weapons and to strengthen cooperation among countries."

"Not every country produces firearms; many of us are victims of these, as is the case in El Salvador and Central America in general, so it is necessary to review the cooperation of countries to contribute to eradicate the use of these weapons."

Dip. Pablo Gonzalez said that the issue of the use of small arms is "very important, but it is also key to analyze the manufacture of ammunition for these devices, because without them these devices cannot function."

"We must work and commit ourselves to bring to the forefront of our countries the issue of ammunition manufacture; it is also important to consider that the manufacturers of these weapons must pay for the damages that these weapons cause to the population."
