International Peace and Security Program

PGA’s International Peace and Security Program marshals global parliamentary support to:

  1. improve the regulation and control of the international arms trade, in particular addressing the illicit trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and promoting ratification of/accession to the Arms Trade Treaty;
  2. prohibit the development, acquisition, manufacture, possession, transportation, transfer and use of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons, in particular promoting accession to, and implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) and implementation of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1540 (2004);
  3. promote nuclear and radiological security, in particular promoting ratification of/accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, the Convention for the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and its Amendment;
  4. promote improved cybersecurity worldwide, in particular promoting ratification of/accession to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and its Protocols

The Program advances these objectives through its four campaigns.
