"I am very pleased that the Government of the Central African Republic deposited yesterday its Instrument of Accession to the Arms Trade Treaty with the United Nations in New York. My country - and our people - have suffered enormously due the inadequate regulation of the small arms and light weapons. As a member of PGA, I was pleased to participate in a May 2013 Workshop in Dar es Salaam that helped moblize regional support among parliamentarians for the Arms Trade Treaty. Since that time, and also as a member of the PGA, I continued to reach out to my government, inviting them to join the ATT, including in a direct meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs before the Foreign Affairs Committee of January 3, 2015, where we emphasized the importance of action on this issue. We must now give it full effect ".

- Hon. Laurent Ngon-Baba, MP (Central African Republic)
