Defender of Democracy Award

Defender of Democracy Awards
Since 1996, PGA has held the Defender of Democracy Awards in conjunction with its Annual Parliamentary Forum. The Defender of Democracy Award is presented to individuals who, through their own commitment and active engagement, have made significant progress in strengthening democracy and democratic practices.

This year's Defender of Democracy Awards took place at the United States Library of Congress on October 20th, 2009 in parallel to PGA's 31st Annual Forum on the Environment and Energy Management.  This year, PGA honored Mr. Kailash Satyarthi of India, Founder/Chair of the Global March Against Child Labor, and Ch. Aitzaz Ahsan of Pakistan, Barrister-at-Law, Senior Advocate Supreme Court. For more information on the dinner, please click here.
